Match report - wash out

Rebels,

Yesterday we were all over Challengers CC when the rains came down.

We won the toss and fielded. A wicket in the first over before they steadied a bit, helped by lots of wides, and were 3-48 at drinks. We owned the 2nd session though and despite a couple of dropped catches (incl a simple c&b by me) we had them all out for 100 in the 22nd over. Eddy 4-22, Barbs 2-20, 1 each for Amar, Ali and Eki. 2 catches for super-sub Jegan, 2 for Amar, a catch and a drop each for Andy and myself, and 2 catches + a runout for Phil behind the stumps.

We were 1-60 at the first drinks break (12 overs) as the rain started. Baldy 15no and Andy Blackman 31no and placing them very neatly. We had already scored the necessary runs to win at 15 overs , but they obviously had not actually bowled 15 overs. Still I wasn’t too concerned – it was early and it never rains for that long in Jakarta. At a bit after 3pm it finally stopped and the field was a lake. Rebels brought all hands to deck with everyone squeegeeing, scraping etc to get the pitch playable for 3 more overs before 4 o’clock. A great effort but there was still a little water on the pitch at 3.50pm (and lots around the pitch) and the opposition declined the invitation to bowl 3 more overs.

So we had no choice but to accept the shared points and drink beer.
